LEAP – Presents a Concert by NARTHEN – POSTPONED

October 15, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm

POSTPONED due to Illness – hopefully this will be re-booked in the New Year.

Lustleigh Arts & Entertainment Project presents a concert by NARTHEN.

Narthen, comprise Barry Coope (Coope, Boyes and Simpson) on vocals and piano, Jo Freya (Blowzabella, Morai) on soprano sax and whistles, Fi Fraser (Polkaworks, The Old Fashioned) on vocals and fiddle and Jim Causley on vocals and accordion.

Proud Devonian Causley, has worked with many top folk artists including Waterson:Carthy, Eddi Reader, Shirley Collins, Show of Hands and Kate Rusby and all members of Narthen perform in shows with Michael Morpurgo. Narthen are noted for their powerful four-part harmonies whether that’s ‘A Capella’ or in haunting accompanied songs – they are also accomplished instrumentalists. Their songs are evocative, poignant and moving.

“Then, when it seemed that the emotional ante could not be upped any further, the band’s sing-along rendition of Sarah Lynch’s eco-anthem “More Waters Rising” had the crowd roaring all the way through to their triumphant set-closer, John Denver’s heartfelt plea for peace “Let Us Forgive”. It was an outstanding performance to end an afternoon, proving that the Sidmouth Folk Festival was back – and in sparkling form.” (Sidmouth Herald Aug 21).

Apart from an appearance at this year’s Sidmouth Folk Festival the concert in Lustleigh is their only performance in Devon this year.
