“Our Poor Little Manor in Devon”: Doccombe and its Canterbury Overlords.

Speaker:  William Hardiman

William Hardiman from Moretonhampstead will join us to explain the extensive work they have carried out into the manor of Doccombe which is in their parish having been carved out of the manor at Moreton in 1173 by William de Tracey who gave it to the monks at Christ Church Canterbury in atonement for his role in the murder of Archbishop Becket.
Please do come along to hear what he has to say, it will be a very interesting talk and I have the understanding a visit could follow next year.
