A lively speaker and an extremely well-informed all-round gardener, he is a plantsman with several special horticultural interests (orchids, woodland gardens, alpines and exotic plants). His career began at National Trust Antony House, Cornwall. The Kew Diploma led to time on Show Management teams for RHS Hampton Court and RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He has appeared on Gardeners World, is on RHS Tender Plants Committee and a Trustee of the Hardy Plant Society. Now he is back in his native Devon – Head Gardener for Stonelands, 10 acre garden in Dawlish.

Chris Hoban is one of the leading songwriters in the South West. His aim and style have simplicity at their core; many of his songs are initially written with young people in mind. He has a wide experience of musical styles and approaches and is regarded as a top-flight lyricist.
He regularly writes songs for the nationally renowned Devonian folk duo “Show of Hands”, has featured on a number of their albums and joined them for occasional performances and festivals, including their sell-out show at the Albert Hall in 2018.
