DESCRIPTION:The Lustleigh Society presents…. \n                          The Italian Garden at Great Ambrook \nSpeaker –  Angela Dodd Compton– 27th September 2023                                                   \n Angela will take us on a virtual tour of this garden near Ipplepen\, a unique and surprising heritage site built just before the First World War. She will then show what it looked like when rediscovered in the late 1980s after being lost under a bramble- and ivy-infested wood for 25 years. They set up their own company ‘Rashleigh Pinwill & Co which is ranked amongst the best in the West Country. The talk will include Napoleon’s surrender\, his journey from Rochefort on board HMS Bellerophon\, the excitement\, controversy and tensions of his stay in the ship just off Plymouth\, and his departure into exile on St Helena.
