DESCRIPTION:Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training. \nBasic life support and CPR skills training with Sarah Brewer and Keith Edwards community training officer for South West Ambulance. \nA two hour training session on Thursday 7th April starting at 7pm. \nA Brief History and How to Book: \nIn 2015 we held some very popular and well received sessions on basic life support and CPR training in the Village Hall. \nThis resulted in the installation of the village defibrillator sited at the Village Hall\, by kind agreement of the Village Hall Management Committee and kindly sponsored by the Lustleigh Association Of Volunteer Drivers\, LADS. \nThere has been recent discussion on the LADS committee about arranging further CPR training sessions. \nThe sudden collapse of a relative friend or neighbour is difficult to cope with but having the confidence to assess\, call for help and administer basic life support whilst waiting for emergency services to arrive can be a life saver. \nAlthough many of us may have these skills they soon become rusty and it is important to practice them and keep up to date. \nSarah Brewer and Keith Edwards the community training officer for South West Ambulance are planning a series of training sessions which we hope to arrange in April. \nWe will be holding 2 hour sessions for 12 people in the village hall that will cover basic life support\, recognition of stroke and other medical emergencies. \nThe sessions will be free but we suggest a contribution to a charity of your choice. \nPlease contact me if you would like to attend one of these sessions and we will confirm dates as soon as we can. (7.45pm)  In order to keep safe we will split the choir to start with by having Sopranos and Altos only on Feb 28 with the Tenors and Basses the following week (March 7th) and continue this pattern for a while – S&A (14th) T&B (21st) \nAlso I can hear individual voices better!  Just joking!  It will cost us a little more and we are getting a bit short on funds considering the three more numbers we have had to get printed to complete the Lustleigh Cantata.  The plan is to perform this with orchestra at a concert when we are ready!  So can you please contribute £10 to our treasurer Francis when we meet up. \nIf there are any further residents who would like to try out some singing please come along – ladies Feb 28\,  men Mar. 7.  You don’t have to be good or have any singing experience.    There are no auditions. \nLooking forward to seeing you all\,\nWill.

SUMMARY:The Lustleigh Music Society presents - Divertimento String Quartet Concert
DESCRIPTION:Divertimento Concert \nUnless the covid situation deteriorates badly we will go ahead with our next planned Divertimento String Quartet concert.  Masks and Distancing will be observed and so we should all be able to keep safe. \nThe main work in the programme is the String Quartet No.2 in G minor by the Danish composer Carl Nielsen (1865-1931). He is one of the giants of Scandinavian music and his 6 symphonies are all great works and in the mainstream of the symphonic repertoire. His string quartets are relatively early works in his output. There is an unnumbered quartet in D minor from 1882 unpublished in his lifetime.  Next comes the G minor quartet completed in 1888 but not performed until 10 years later and published in 1900 and in a revised edition that became the 2nd of the 4 quartets to be published. \nIt is in 4 movements: Allegro energico/Andante amoroso/ Scherzo: Allegro molto/ Finale: Allegro inquieto.  There is a certain quirkiness in his writing often with unexpected modulations which is particularly discernable in the Scherzo\, but overall\, the lasting impression is that it is an attractive\, lyrical and tuneful work. \nThe supporting pieces in the programme are Dowland (Flow my Tears)\, Mathew Locke (Suite in D minor) and Caroline Shaw (Entr’acte). \nLustleigh Village Hall\, Sunday  Feb.20th  at 3.00pm  Adults £15.00  Students and children Free. Tickets at the Dairy or On the Door. \nA further concert is being planned for Saturday April 30th with an augmented Divertimento to play sextets by Spohr and Brahms.

DESCRIPTION:AGM AND LUNCH \nSATURDAY 15TH JANUARY  2022 – 12 NOON IN THE VILLAGE HALL \nWe will be holding a reasonably socially distanced but friendly lunch\, gathered at smaller tables rather than one big scrum\, in the main hall preceded by the AGM.  In order to entice you to attend the very brief business session we would like to welcome you with a glass of mulled wine at 12.00\, hold the meeting at 12.30 p.m. and settle to our three -course lunch at 1.00p.m or as near as we can get.  There will be a glass of wine and a choice of a main dish and of deserts plus tea and coffee. \nNon-members are of course welcome and this will be a chance for us all to start again fresh with our subscriptions for 2022. Same cost £7.50. \nAs you can imagine we need to plan the catering in advance.  We will be mailing our scattered membership and have a deadline for RSVP’s by January 8th. \nWith the kind help of Dean and Shirley\, Tickets\, £15.00\, will be on sale at the Dairy from 14th December.
