There has been some recent confusion in the village about whether, during these increasingly uncertain times, the Village Hall should remain open for its normal range of community purposes.
The present position, which reflects latest Government guidance, is that the Hall is fully open for use, and will remain so until such time that circumstances, and Government stipulations should change.
There are of course currently various recommended common-sense precautions intended to limit as far as possible the spread of the virus. Some of these are of particular importance in a multi-use environment such as that at the Village Hall.
When deciding whether to use the Hall facilities, individuals are asked to bear in mind the age profile of typical Hall users. Daily, the range of users involves very young children through to the more elderly members of the community.
Regard therefore extends beyond the well-being of one’s own users (by observing Government recommendations concerning hand washing – WC facilities in the Hall are amply provided with soap and water for this purpose) into the well-being of subsequent hirers. For the benefit of all parties users are asked to remember that the standard condition of hire (that the Hall is left in a clean and tidy state at the conclusion of a hired period) is of increased significance now.
The Hall Management Committee is closely monitoring guidance developments, and updates about the Hall status will be provided as and when appropriate. Users are asked to keep an eye on the Hall website where updates will be provided, and to liaise with the bookings’ secretary as necessary.
